What is TEN?

NGO Active Estonian Youth (TEN) is a politically neutral organization providing nationwide civic education for young people. TEN’s main activities include European Youth Parliament sessions, simulations introducing democratic decision-making processes and topical issues in the society, regional sessions and mini sessions as well as other youth self-initiated projects. TEN is the official representative of the European Youth Parliament in Estonia.

Ventures initiated by youth include TENs Youth Parliament sessions as well as the realization of ideas born out of these sessions. At regional youth parliament session solutions to local problems are offered during group work. The projects are analyzed and further developed at the General Assembly. After the event, experienced members share their knowledge, skills and contacts to help the implementation of these projects. The last TEN regional youth parliament sessions were held in Tallinn, Paide, Jõgeva and Tartu. The Linn Lilleliseks project is perhaps the best example of the Youth Parliament's proposed solutions. The project involves young people with special needs and has been implemented for seven years.

Youth Democracy School introduces democratic decision-making to Estonian youth. In order to understand the process, participants can play the parts themselves. TEN has organized or helped to carry out both of the Parliament, local government and government formation simulations. TEN’s members’ skills and experience as chairpersons and team leaders are valued and they are asked to participate by other associations and events.

The European Youth Parliament (here and forth EYP) is an umbrella organization that holds three pan-European sessions with over 300 participants every year. As the official representative of EYP in Estonia, TEN annually organizes the Estonian National Session, where both European and global issues are discussed in English with the participation of foreign delegations. Some exemplary participants will be sent to international, regional or foreign national sessions.

Over the years, TEN has had a lot of supporters, such as the Open Estonia Foundation, Tallinn Sports and Youth Department, the European Union Information Secretariat, Gambling Tax Council, the European Parliament, the European Youth and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. Our great cooperation partners include numerous schools and youth centers, the Estonian National Youth Council and its members, state and local government bodies, TANinfo etc.

NGO TEN has been operating for ten years and in that time over 5,000 young people have participated in the events. The best way to join TEN is to take part in one of the events, information of which can be found on our website (ten.ee) and Facebook page (under Tegusad Eesti Noored).

TEN is open to any newcomers and cooperation offers. Feel free to contact us at info@ten.ee.
